The love of the disciple for the teacher is not for the teacher’s own sake, but for the love of the Shaykh, just as the love of the Shaykh is for the love of our Master, the Messenger of Allah Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him, and our love for our Master, the Messenger of Allah Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him, is for the love of our Lord, the Exalted and Most High, the Beneficial and Harmful, the Reducer and the Exalter, the Withholder and the Extender.
