The Tijaniyya

The esteemed scholar Shaykh al-Islam al-Hajj Ibrahima Niass—may Allah be pleased with him—writes in his didactic poem Rūḥ al-Adab:[1]

“The Tijaniyya, the path of virtue and blessing, is founded upon the Sunna and the Qur’an.“[2]

[1] Al-Hajj Ibrahima Niass, Ruh al-Adab (the Spirit of good Morals), verse 4

[2] The poem uses the term “the criterion” (al-Furqan), which is also the name of the 25th surah of the Quran. Al-Furqan is often used as a synonym for the Quran and symbolizes divine wisdom, enabling the distinction between good and evil. In this context, the Quran is regarded as the ultimate source of discernment and guidance in life.
